01 · The challenge

Selling watches and jewelry on a platform built for attention

A leading watches and jewelry brand partnered with AlGurus to explore what Snapchat’s advertising platform could do for its business. Snapchat is known for reach and engagement; the open question was whether it could also drive real sales for a considered, high-value product.

Sales, not just reach

The objective was significant sales and maximum ROI, while still reaching a wide audience.

A competitive category

Watches and jewelry are crowded, and buyers compare before they commit.

Three goals to balance

The strategy had to balance reach, engagement and conversions without trading one away for another.

The benchmark was clear from the start: Snapchat campaigns typically return between 2 and 4 in revenue for every unit of ad spend. Anything near that would make Snapchat a channel worth keeping. Anything well above it would make it a growth engine.

02 · The strategy

A Snapchat sales strategy in four moves

ObjectiveAchieve significant sales and maximise ROI on Snapchat, while building brand visibility among a highly engaged audience.

Pillar 1

Creative excellence

Visually captivating, dynamic video ads that show the elegance and craftsmanship of each watch and piece of jewelry.

Pillar 2

Targeted campaigns

Interest-based targeting, lookalike audiences and location-specific ads to reach likely buyers, not just more people.

Pillar 3

Budget and tracking

A cost-efficient bidding strategy inside a fixed budget, with real-time monitoring and continuous optimisation.

Watches and jewelry sell on detail: the finish of a case, the light on a stone, the way a bracelet sits on a wrist. Snapchat’s full-screen vertical video is a good stage for that, so the creative did the heavy lifting. Every ad was built to show the product rather than describe it, so that a viewer could see the quality in the first seconds.

Targeting then made sure that attention landed on people likely to buy. Interest-based audiences found people already drawn to watches, jewelry and luxury; lookalike audiences extended the reach to people who resembled existing customers; and location-specific ads kept the spend where the brand could sell and deliver.

Finally, the budget was fixed at $35,912, so bidding had to be efficient. We used a cost-efficient bidding strategy and watched the data in real time, moving budget towards the ads and audiences that produced purchases and away from the ones that only produced views.

Starting point

05 · What we learned

What this campaign taught us about Snapchat for luxury products

Let the product perform

For watches and jewelry, video that shows craftsmanship does more selling than copy. Creative was the main lever.

Reach is only useful when it is aimed

230 million impressions mattered because interest, lookalike and location targeting put them in front of likely buyers.

Optimise while it runs

Real-time tracking and cost-efficient bidding kept a fixed $35,912 budget working on purchases, not just views.

Why Snapchat for watches and jewelry brands

Massive reach. Millions of highly engaged users in one place.

Dynamic formats. Visually rich ads that show the beauty and craftsmanship of the product.

Cost efficiency. Advanced targeting and optimised bidding keep the return high.

A consistent, well-optimised Snapchat strategy can drive both sales and brand awareness. For a watches and jewelry brand that came to Snapchat to explore its potential, this campaign showed that the platform can carry real sales.
