$39–$399Shopify plans per month, billed monthly (Oct 2026)

Quick answer

A Shopify store in Jordan has one-off costs (design, setup, payments, Arabic and content) and monthly costs (the Shopify plan, apps, transaction fees and support). On 14 Oct 2026 Shopify’s plans cost $39, $105 and $399 a month billed monthly, or $29, $79 and $299 billed yearly; the one-off build depends mostly on theme vs custom design. Our Shopify development team builds each quote line by line from your catalogue, markets and growth plan.

Key takeaways
  • Split the budget into one-off (design, setup, content) and monthly (plan, apps, fees, support).
  • Shopify plans: $39 / $105 / $399 a month billed monthly, less when billed yearly (shopify.com, Oct 2026).
  • Without Shopify Payments, Shopify adds 2% to 0.2% per sale on top of your gateway’s rates, by plan.
  • Design path, apps, Arabic/RTL and payment setup for Jordan and the Gulf move the one-off cost most.

“How much will a Shopify store cost me?” is the first question almost every merchant in Amman asks, and the honest answer is that there is no single number. A Shopify store has two kinds of cost: one-off costs to plan, design and launch it, and monthly costs to run it. The monthly part starts with Shopify’s own plan; the one-off part depends on how much of the store is designed and built for your brand rather than taken off the shelf.

This guide breaks down every line that ends up in a real budget for a store selling in Jordan and the Gulf: the plan, the theme or custom design, apps, payments and shipping, Arabic and right-to-left (RTL) layout, product content, and what it takes to keep the store growing after launch. It is written from our experience building 75+ Shopify stores as an official Shopify Partner in Jordan. We do not publish a price list here, because two stores that look alike can need very different work; instead, we show you how a fair quote is built so you can compare any offer you receive.

What are the one-off and monthly costs of a Shopify store?

The simplest way to plan your budget is to separate what you pay once from what you pay every month. Merchants who mix the two often underestimate the store by a wide margin, because the monthly lines add up quietly in the background.

How much are Shopify’s plans in 2026?

Shopify charges a subscription for the platform itself. On 14 October 2026, Shopify’s pricing page listed these prices in USD:

  • Basic: $39 a month billed monthly, or $29 a month billed yearly.
  • Grow: $105 a month billed monthly, or $79 a month billed yearly.
  • Advanced: $399 a month billed monthly, or $299 a month billed yearly.
  • Plus: starting at $2,300 a month, for complex and high-volume businesses.

Shopify also runs a short free trial followed by a low introductory monthly price for the first months, and its page notes that prices may vary by store location. Plans and promotions change, so always check the live page before you budget. For most new stores in Jordan, Basic or Grow is enough at launch; the higher plans start to make sense when you need more staff accounts, lower transaction fees at higher volume, or advanced selling across several countries.

Watch the transaction fee: if you do not use Shopify Payments, Shopify adds its own fee on each sale made through a third-party gateway: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus (shopify.com, 14 Oct 2026). That fee sits on top of what the gateway itself charges.

Theme or custom design: what changes the cost most?

The biggest one-off cost decision is how the store is designed. There are four realistic paths, and each one moves the budget and the timeline.

  1. Free theme, set up as-is. Shopify offers free themes that are fast and well maintained. The cost is mostly setup time: settings, products, pages and policies. It suits a first test of the market, but the store will look like many others.
  2. Paid theme, set up and styled. Paid themes on the Shopify Theme Store are a one-time purchase; the paid themes listed when we checked on 14 Oct 2026 ranged from about $150 to $450. You get more layouts and features, then pay for the work of adapting it to your brand.
  3. Theme customized for the brand. A strong theme as the base, with custom sections, product page layouts and brand styling built on top. This is where most growing brands in Jordan and the Gulf land: it balances cost, speed and uniqueness.
  4. Fully custom theme. Designed from scratch and coded in Liquid for your catalogue and buying journey. It costs the most and takes the longest, and it makes sense when your brand, catalogue or customer journey needs something a theme cannot do well.

A good partner explains which path fits your stage. A store launching with 30 products and a test budget rarely needs a fully custom theme; a luxury brand moving an established customer base online often does.

How much do Shopify apps add to the monthly bill?

Apps are the cost line merchants underestimate most. Many have free tiers, but reviews, subscriptions, product bundles, upsells, loyalty, advanced filters, translation and wishlists often move to paid plans as the store grows, and each one is billed every month. Ten small apps can quietly cost more than the Shopify plan itself.

Apps also carry a hidden cost: every app that loads scripts on the storefront can slow pages down, and a slow store converts worse. When we scope a build, we decide feature by feature whether a need is better served by an app, by a theme setting, or by a small piece of custom code that has no monthly fee. That decision belongs in your quote.

What does payment and shipping setup cost in Jordan and the Gulf?

This is where a store built for Jordan and the Gulf differs from a template built for the US or Europe. Shopify Payments is only available in a limited list of countries, so many stores run from Jordan connect a third-party payment gateway instead. That brings three costs: the gateway’s own per-transaction rates, Shopify’s third-party fee listed above, and the one-off work of connecting and testing the gateway in checkout.

  • Payment methods: cards, cash on delivery (still common in Jordan), and for Gulf customers wallets such as Apple Pay and buy-now-pay-later options such as Tabby and Tamara, depending on what your gateway and target country support.
  • Shipping: delivery zones for Amman and the governorates, rates for Gulf countries if you ship there, courier integration, and clear rules for cash on delivery.
  • Selling in several countries: Shopify Markets handles currencies, prices and domains per country; it needs careful setup so a customer in Riyadh sees prices and delivery terms that make sense to them.

None of this is glamorous, but a checkout that fails on a popular payment method costs more in lost orders than any design decision.

Does an Arabic store cost more?

Yes, usually, and it is worth it in Jordan and the Gulf. An Arabic store is not a translation of the English one; it is a second storefront that reads right to left. The extra work includes:

  • Checking that the theme handles RTL properly: menus, sliders, icons, product galleries and the cart drawer all mirror correctly.
  • Arabic product titles, descriptions, collection pages, policies and emails written for Arab shoppers, not machine-translated.
  • Language switching, separate URLs per language so both versions can rank in Google, and an Arabic-friendly font that stays readable on phones.

The cost depends mainly on how many products and pages need Arabic content. A bilingual store built properly from the start is cheaper than adding Arabic to an English-only store later.

  4. Payments and shippingGateway, cash on delivery, delivery zones and Gulf shipping, tested end to end.
  5. Arabic and RTLWhich pages and products get Arabic content, and who writes it.
  6. TrackingGA4, Meta Pixel and Conversions API set up so ads can measure sales.
  7. Ownership and supportThe store in your name, training for your team, and what support costs after launch.

What about product content, tracking and launch work?

Three lines are often missing from cheap quotes, and each one comes back as a cost later.

Product content and photos

Products need clean titles, useful descriptions, size or spec details, variants and good images. For a catalogue of hundreds of products, content preparation can take longer than the design. Decide early whether your team, the agency or a photographer handles it.

Tracking for ads

If you plan to run Meta, Google, Snapchat or TikTok ads, the store needs GA4, the platform pixels and server-side events (such as Meta’s Conversions API) set up and tested at launch. Without them, the ad platforms cannot see which clicks became orders, and your ad budget learns slowly. Our analytics and reporting team treats this as part of the build, not an extra.

SEO foundations

Clean URLs, titles and descriptions for collections and products, structured data and a sitemap cost little at launch and a lot to fix later. Our guide to Shopify SEO and marketing in Jordan covers what to ask for.

What are the ongoing costs after the store goes live?

After launch, the monthly budget usually includes the Shopify plan, paid apps, payment and shipping fees per order, and some level of support: fixing issues, adding features for campaigns, and keeping the theme and apps up to date. Most stores also need a marketing budget, because a store with no traffic sells nothing.

This is also where long-term results come from. One hardware store we have supported on Shopify for five years has reached 326K JOD in sales across 5,084 orders, with a 0.38% conversion rate (the hardware average is 0.22%), a 76 JOD average order (the average is 55 JOD), and a 13.65% returning customer rate. Those results came from steady improvement after launch, not from launch day alone.

How does AlGurus build a Shopify quote?

We do not quote from a fixed package list, because the work behind two “simple stores” can differ by weeks. A quote from our Shopify development team is built from four inputs:

  1. Your catalogue and markets: number of products and variants, countries you sell to, languages and currencies.
  2. Your design path: which of the four design paths above fits your brand and budget.
  3. Your operations: payment gateway, cash on delivery, couriers, and any link to stock, ERP or accounting systems.
  4. Your growth plan: tracking for ads, SEO foundations, and the support you want after launch.

If you are not ready for a full build, a Shopify consultation can map the plan, apps and setup for you first. If you already have a store that no longer performs, the cost question is different: read 10 signs your Shopify store needs a redesign and see our Shopify store redesign service. Frequently asked questions

How much is the Shopify subscription per month?

On 14 Oct 2026 Shopify listed Basic at $39, Grow at $105 and Advanced at $399 a month billed monthly, or $29, $79 and $299 a month billed yearly; Plus starts at $2,300 a month. Prices and promotions change, so check shopify.com/pricing before you budget.

Which Shopify plan should a new store in Jordan start on?

Most new stores start on Basic or Grow. Higher plans make sense when you need more staff accounts, lower third-party transaction fees at higher sales volume, or advanced selling across several countries.

Is there a transaction fee if I use a local payment gateway?

Yes. When a store does not use Shopify Payments, Shopify charges its own fee per sale through a third-party gateway: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus (Oct 2026), on top of the gateway’s own rates.

Is a custom Shopify theme worth the extra cost?

Only when your brand, catalogue or buying journey needs something a good theme cannot do. Many growing brands do best with a strong theme customized for the brand, which balances cost, speed and uniqueness.

Does adding Arabic make a Shopify store more expensive?

Usually, because Arabic is a second right-to-left storefront: the theme must mirror correctly and products, pages and emails need Arabic content. Building bilingual from the start costs less than adding Arabic later.

Why doesn’t AlGurus publish fixed Shopify prices?

Because two stores that look alike can need very different work. We build each quote from your catalogue and markets, design path, payment and shipping setup and growth plan. See how our Shopify development works.
